National supermarket chain The fourth largest supermarket chain in the UK invested over £300 million to overhaul its IT as part of a major business transformation programme. As a result, it required 100 IT permanent professionals over 12 months, a challenge that was too great for the in-house recruitment team. Many of the client’s IT vacancies were in niche areas such as enterprise infrastructure, EPOS applications, Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft. Since these areas were typically supported by contractors, identifying and attracting permanent candidates was a challenge for the client. A Spring account manager moved to the client’s head office, where they were able to partner with HR, IT and Resourcing and manage the complete recruitment lifecycle for each role. This included briefing hiring managers, role profile creation, resourcing, technical testing, competency-based interviewing, feedback, offer management and on-boarding. Streamlined process Working with more than 20 specialist consultants at Spring, the account manager ensured that a stream of high-level candidates was presented to the client. Management information was also provided throughout the recruitment campaign. Spring successfully recruited 84 permanent employees into a number of diverse roles over a 12-month period. The client was able to achieve targets and delivered the change programme on time and within budget. By having one point of contact with a specialist recruiter, the client was able to streamline the process and make significant cost savings. The time to hire and the quality of the candidates improved markedly during the campaign. As a result, the client continues to work with Spring on an exclusive basis.
