Hours: 35 hours per week (08:00 to 18:00 Mon-Friday) Happy to talk Flexible working options
Location: A mixture of home working and in the Manchester or Liverpool office


Introduction to the team

The Infrastructure Team are a team of IT Professionals based across Liverpool, Manchester and Singapore. The team are responsible for the delivery of technical projects, management and BAU upkeep of the firms infrastructure, applications and SQL (Managed by a dedicated SQL function).

Our team are currently working with some of the latest technologies in the market, including a Software Defined WAN, Software Defined Datacentre and migration of core applications to SAAS and IAAS platforms where suitable. You can guarantee no two days will be the same and the workload is varied.

As well as being a member of our Infrastructure team, you will also closely align with our solutions architect, project management office and service desk teams.


Key responsibilities

This role will directly align with the Service Delivery Manager - Infrastructure and the Infrastructure Technical leads, the role will be responsible for the direct line management of infrastructure team members with around 6-7 direct reports. This role will be the initial point of contact / escalation for the Infrastructure team and also a point of escalation for the Infrastructure Technical Leads, PMO Team and also the Service Management Team.

*To line manage a team of Infrastructure Professionals and maintain HR related tasks
*A hands on team management role that requires a balance between technical workload and line management responsibilities, being consultive to the infrastructure team on any escalation requirements
*Lead on Infrastructure Recruitment where and when applicable
*To own, maintain and manage the weekly ROTA including the co-ordination of out of hours, daily checks and daily support
*To own, maintain and manage the 3rd Line / BAU Escalations support queue ensuring that all tickets are continually kept up-to-date (Status, comments and update to user) and within SLA where possible.
*To be a point of escalation for the IT Service Delivery team when dealing with major Incidents, problems or issues that require immediate attention
*To Manage the resourcing of your team, ensuring that in co-ordination with the Portfolio Lead / team that the team is resourced correctly and in line with the requirements from our PMO
*To own, lead and co-ordinate the resourcing of remedial tasks in relation to annual audits including CE+, ISO27001 and Penetration Testing
*To own, lead and co-ordinate the resourcing of audit requirements which may be from external clients or auditing bodies
*In co-ordination with the IT Business Co-ordinator, own lead and co-ordinate the resourcing requirements to ensure that hardware and licensing support remain compliant.
*Deputise for the Service Delivery Manager - Infrastructure when required.
*Form a direct relationship with key suppliers / partners and act as a point of contact.
*Maintain an understanding of solutions as they transition into service.
*Involvement and input in pre/post portfolio planning with PMO / Solutions / Service Delivery Manager - Infrastructure.
*Direct co-ordination with the Infrastructure Technical leads to ensure that new solutions are fit for purpose, documented and handed over prior to becoming live.
*Understanding the lifecycle of our estate, hardware and software and have input, raise issues and develop a strong understanding of where existing solutions may have an impact within the solution lifecycle.
*Act as a dedicated mentor to new members of staff or members of staff who require development within their role (New hires), having direct input in their objectives and reviews.
*Align with the Service Delivery Manager - Infrastructure on the operational estate (Hardware and Software) and make annual recommendations on where replacement is required.
*Involvement in budget planning having input on what is required and take ownership of the annual delivery of BAU tasks, i.e. the planning and delivery of the budgeted items.
*In conjunction with the infrastructure Technical Lead and Portfolio Lead, manage and co-ordinate the operational duties of technical resources on large projects (Infrastructure Analysts)
*Have final sign off ensuring newly transitioned services into LIVE match our compliance matrix, ensuring solutions have been documented, tested and handed over before sign off.
*Support the IT departmental policies for the organisation which includes all service delivery matters, technological matters, hardware and software procurement & IT services sourcing.


Essential:
*A strong understanding of Infrastructure Operations
*A strong understanding of VMware management and maintenance.
*A strong understanding of Microsoft Server technologies and associated services, including Server 2012, 2016 and 2019.
*A strong understanding of networking
*A strong understanding of Disaster Recovery and High Availability technologies, to achieve strong recovery point / recovery time objectives.
*A strong understanding of applications, HA technologies and how we can make our applications highly available for BC / DR purposes. While an understanding of all internal applications isn't essential, a strong level of knowledge in different applications and server back end configuration is essential.
*Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Sites / Services and native replication technologies.
