Application Specialist - Birmingham - Salary up to £33kpa

My client, an International Insurance firm are currently looking to expand their Application Support team with an Application Specialist.

The role sits in a team of 3, providing application support to a large range of bespoke applications.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
*You identify and resolve issues with our applications, by following agreed procedures you can establish root cause and then resolve operational incidents.
*Part of your role will be to carry out routine maintenance of the applications, but you will also manage application enhancements to improve business performance.
*You'll need good communication skills to liaise with software suppliers for system enhancements or to overcome problems.
*You contribute by recommending improvements in automated and non-automated components. You'll also work closely with the business to understand their needs for new or amended systems.
*We do ask that you build meaningful relationships with third party providers as this will help you to understand developments and enhancements in their product sets as well as to commission work and understand and communicate progress.
*You have an ongoing awareness of Service Desk issues in order to drive dedicated solution provisioning and propose application improvements or updates.
*Design, build and execute test scenarios, scripts and MS SQL queries when requested from the business. You're the Domain Expert for all core systems used by the business.

To be successful in the role you will possess
*A Bachelor's degree or validated experience in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems Management.
*Experienced knowledge of applications in use in the Organisation (ie Adviser Office, Salesforce, Virtual Cabinet and Timebox)
*Deep knowledge of good quality processes including ITIL and the desire to quickly grasp and interpret salient information; translating this to others in a concise manner.
*Strong SQL skills and querying databases.
*Strong communication skills.
*Attention to detail.
*Excellent organisation skill.
